SILICON VALLEY CLASSIC 2015 this Saturday saw a great turnout and good time had by all. The FREE HORNETS "Gruppe Build 2014 Mustangs" took a third place in Collections, thanks you all who assisted in that effort. - mickb
JANUARY 30th 1045p Just recieved email word about this horrible event which LITERALLY STRUCK our staunch friends at Modesto Hobby & Craft ! They are not just old friends who support the community literally at large, MHC are just about the only folk these days that still actually exceed status of "a legendary old time hobby shop" so often lamented as going by the boards. PLEASE VISIT THIS LINK I post unsolicited now, as my best contribution until my payday - mickb (alumnus Tomcat of Stockton)
Managed time off did this Hornet, so could be in on all the late daylight fun at Modesto Hobby with SJVSM Tomcats. Many items of interest, Alan Weber and Manager Brad's take on IPMS 2012 Nats was especially worthwhile (some contrast to the reports from other Bay Areas...). A grand plan in action also encountered, a Veterans Day honoring of Mr Bill Andrews, a Tomcat who left us last winter. Some may know that he was not only a huge F-4 Phantom buff, but also a long time and excellent Fremont Hornet President. We miss him and his marvelous take on life. Here's a few shots I took of the meeting. Remember of course, being Photobucket album, they're in reverse shoot order after upload. http://s919.photobucket.com/albums/ad35/smilodon49/2012%20Summer%20with%20Tomcats%20by%20Mick%20Burton/
Upon his return from the IPMS USA Nats, Chris Bucholtz found time while at the 8-17-12 SVSM meeting. to announce some important details regarding the USS Hornet Model Exhibition coming up September 22, Much of this new information can be gleaned from checking out updated flyer here http://s919.photobucket.com/albums/ad35/smilodon49/USS%20HORNET%20MODEL%20MANIA%20EXHIBITION%20Flyer/ More models on display, the merrier! Hangar decks are pretty spacious, so don't be shy, bring all you've got to show. PLUS if you're an active Display Participant, your admission is covered AND you get onboard earlier than Public. Now how cool is that ?
While others of us were busy having beer or working hard to make sure results and photos were done in time back in Florida, we hardy few held our August meeting undaunted. Great turnout, lots of talking, building, sarcastic remarks and a bonus posting of the TriCity Eight promotional material. In just over two months from here, that event will be history for posting here too. Little did we know, one of our own (Randy J Ray) would only 24 hrs later be the one to "live at five" be reporting the results of Specials and 2014 Nats bid winner on Hyperscale. Which meant we could post it here 2 hours later! A FUN WEEKEND THANKS ALL. Here's a look at Nest, we know the Nats pics will be everywhere soon, but only here can you find these. Enjoy - mick http://s919.photobucket.com/albums/ad35/smilodon49/Fremont%20Hornets%20August%202012%20by%20Mick%20Burton/
