20 members present by 905PM. A recap of the 9/25/11 Hornets TriCity Seven contest and show revealed a pretty fine result. Many thanks to Obscureco for their sponsorship of the awards, which made TC-7 much more successful. The "Eyes In The Sky" Gruppe Build by Hornets in fact was present, with members Ray Lloyd, Mark Schnynert and Mick Burton contributing to the entry made in Collections category. We got a Second place award from the Judges and the award was presented with unanimous acclaim, to Ray Lloyd at the meeting. Models were at the meeting, minutes weren't taken but my review of photos I took bring recollections thusly: Ben Pada graced us with a look at the new 1/48 P-61 Black Widow kit, including parts for compare from the Monogram competitor. Cliff Kranz had 3 old box scale Revell marvels on table: recent finished B-25, almost completed P2V-7 on skis, and a dusty mate to it which was conversion of this same kit to the "Truculent Turtle" version, done MANY years ago. The dust is a clue... There were 4 almost done Sdkfz 234 series armored cars from the Italeri kits on table, Mick Burton trying out each of the versions out of the box, the /1, /2 (Puma), /3 (short cannon), /4 (long cannon). Burton also shared a look at set of 1/2/3 awards he swept in Real Space/Missiles category at TC7, the bum! Gabriel Lee had his Chicago Bulls edition of the Ohio class SSBN almost done, as well as progress on several SF projects. Ray Lloyd's "Godzilla bait" Chaffee was continuing its way to completion, Mark Schynert shared his pair of odd ducks, one being the Hampden recon he recently had as part of Eyes in the Sky winning entry. Other subjects were present, sadly my recall is nigh so you will simply have to check out the link for a look and see for yourself !

RennSport IV at Laguna Seca was HUGE. Here is a link to the rest of my pictures illustrating some idea of the event, combined with separate album of the exquisite Racing Porsche model car contest, you may get taste of what 70 thousand Porsche fans can produce. Enjoy http://s919.photobucket.com/albums/ad35/smilodon49/RennSport%204%20The%20Rest%20of%20Show%20by%20Mick%20Burton/

Saturday, October 15 2011 was historic in more than 1/1 fashion for aficionados of Porsche automotion. Part of the first two days of the three day BIG event held for the first time on the West Coast, called "Rennsport Reunion IV" was a "Racing Porsche Model Car Contest". Hosted by Mr Bill Bauer of San Jose, CA with Mr Henry Trent of Smyrna, Georgia assisting mightily, the ten category show/contest was held under a huge tent titled "Model Car Concours". Two Hornets of three entered in the event took home one each of the mighty fancy acrylic "3-D" awards sponsored by the Porsche NA, Rennsport Reunion IV folks, congratulations to them it was fierce competition in both areas. Jim Priete (who had literally completed it that morning) with his 1/25 Mille Miglia 1957 Racer won in "Pre 1964" and Kent McClure won in "Small Scale" with his 1/43 racer which I don't know the make of. I sadly did not take home one in the heavily attended "Post 1982" category, but I did have the only "History Channel/Paul Newman" EVO 911 GT-1 on display, which apparently some appreciated a lot. GO Hornets and thanks Bill and Henry for this event!. Okay, so that's a slightly confounding headline, got your attention I hope! 2009 TriCity 6 was themed "From Russia With Love" while TriCity 7 was of course, "Black Rain". As fun and grand a show at our old locale TC-6 proved to be, the 2011 TC-7 results are now analyzed and confirmed, revealing Japanese theme at new locale was much bigger turnout. TriCity 6 had 57 entrants with 217 subjects versus TriCity 7 at 75 entrants with 315 subjects. Although TriCity 6 will still hold the distinction of having nearly everyone who entered winning at least one award apiece, a very pleasing and rare bit of contest results trivia. Hornets, we have secured our new beachhead. More detailed information to come, but had to get that headline posted today!
